The GHA team has a variety of roles split into the following responsibilities
The GHA offers social rented housing, homes sold as partial ownership for local people on lower incomes whose needs cannot be met in the private housing market and extra care housing where there is a need for additional support.
We strive to create an environment which enhances the quality of life of residents and encourages self-reliance. Our team aims to provide a customer-focused and efficient service to make sure all of our residents and partial owners are looked after well.
The Chief Executive’s role is to guide and manage the GHA to ensure the teams meet the aims, performance and vision of the company. He has a full oversight of the company as all team heads report into the Chief Executive to ensure the smooth running of the company. He works closely with the States of Guernsey and is a key player in ensuring that more homes can be provided for local people.
Housing Management team
Our housing team deals with any issues that may arise during the tenancy of a GHA property as well as applications from new tenants. The team is based primarily at our Lowlands Trading Estate office.
Each development has a Housing Officer assigned to it, who is managed by a Housing Manager. Their role is to provide an efficient, effective customer-focused service to their residents and partial owners. Within the housing team, there is the Allocations Officer. Their role is to process partial ownership applications and put forward nominations for any vacant properties.
Our nine-strong maintenance team is responsible for keeping GHA rented properties in excellent condition. Led by the Maintenance Manager, their job is to make sure that everything is working correctly and to carry out any necessary repairs.
We aim to empower our tenants and, under the tenancy agreement, some repairs may fall under the resident’s responsibility. Our repair responsibility tool shows what the GHA is responsible for and what our residents are responsible for.
The Finance team are integral as they process the rent of residents and payments of those in the partial ownership scheme. They also ensure invoices are paid and handle our bank loans.
Our development team is responsible for identifying new properties and developments that may be suitable for GHA use. If these developments are approved then the team assumes project management responsibility for the builds or renovations and for seeing projects through to completion.
